Getting your first massage in Daytona Beach? Or maybe it's been a while and you want to make sure you get the full benefit? A little preparation goes a long way. Here's what actually matters before your session.
Shower Before — Basic Hygiene Matters
Your therapist is going to be working close. A quick shower or bath beforehand is just respectful. Use mouthwash or brush your teeth too — you'll be face-down on a table but you'll turn and talk. Clean feet are especially appreciated if you're booking a foot massage or reflexology session.
Don't Eat a Big Meal
Eat something light about an hour before your appointment. An empty stomach can leave you lightheaded on the table. A full stomach is uncomfortable when you're lying face-down. A banana, toast, or light snack hits the right balance.
Skip the Caffeine and Alcohol
Coffee tenses your muscles — the opposite of what you're about to pay for. Alcohol dehydrates tissue and dulls your body's response to therapeutic touch. Water is your best pre-massage drink.
What to Wear
Wear whatever you're comfortable in — you'll change at the studio. For full-body massage like Swedish or deep tissue, most clients undress to their comfort level and are draped with a sheet throughout. For chair massage, you stay fully clothed.
Know What You Want
Think about what areas bother you most before you arrive. Tight shoulders? Lower back pain? Sore feet from standing all day? The more specific you can be when your therapist asks, the better they can tailor the session. Don't be shy about pressure preferences — your therapist wants to know.
Arrive a Few Minutes Early
Rushing in stressed defeats the purpose. Get to Body & Foot Massage Spa (1365 Beville Rd, Foxboro Plaza) about 5 minutes before your time. It gives you a moment to settle, fill out any intake forms if it's your first visit, and mentally shift into relaxation mode. Walk-ins welcome, or call (386) 281-3248 to book ahead.
